Volunteer
Opportunities
The Pride Centre
of Edmonton is a volunteer-based organization. Volunteers are essential for
the operation of our programs and services.
So Many Great Reasons for Getting Involved...
- Have fun!
- Meet new people
- Learn
- Share your skills and knowledge
- Pride in helping our community grow
Volunteers are needed in
the following positions:
- Drop In Hosts
Our greatest
need is for volunteers who are willing to greet people during our
drop-in hours and to provide referrals to clients as needed. Training is
provided and shifts are only 3 hours per week in the afternoons,
evenings, or on Saturdays.
- Special Events
Work at one
of our many special events through-out the year, e.g., fundraising
events, open houses, dances, etc.
Who Can Volunteer?
We are an
equal-access opportunity provider. We welcome involvement from anyone
regardless of race, religion, physical ability or sexual orientation.
What Skills Are Needed?
We are looking
for friendly individuals who are interested in helping others and
contributing to the LGBTQ community. Knowledge of the community and its
issues is an asset, but is also something that you will learn as you
volunteer here.
All volunteers
complete an application
form indicating your skills and interests. Each volunteer is personally
interviewed to determine more about your interests and how the Pride Centre
can best put your skills to use. Some volunteers positions require a letter
of reference, a confidential background and security clearance check.
Volunteer
Commitment
We respect the
ideas and input of each volunteer. We will provide training and meaningful
opportunities for you to learn and contribute. We recognize the importance of
volunteers and want your experience with the Pride Centre to be as positive
as possible. In return, we ask that volunteers follow through with their
commitments and approach their volunteer activities in the professional
manner our clients expect.
